GERMAN V-2  ROCKET
The V-2 was a first early ballistic missile used by Germany during the later stages of World War II against British targets.
One V-2 rocket lost by Germans during test firing in occupied Poland was found by Polish secret Homeland Army. They hid the rocket in the river. Later, a secret "Operation Most (Bridge) III" was organised by our Polish Intelligence in London in conjunction with Polish Underground, and parts of the captured rocket, as well as the analysis and sketches, were flown under cover of darkness from occupied Poland to England.

This photo was taken when the V-2 missile was being recovered from the Bug River by members of the Polish underground.
